Entrepreneurship Development Training Programme on Fish Culture:

Three days training program on Fish Culture was organized by the Department of Basic Science, College of Agriculture under ICAR sponsored SC-SP subplan from 29.02.2020 to 02.03.2020.  The program was designed to impart technical knowledge on various aspects of scientific fish farming starting from construction to pond, pond management practices, fish nutrition, seed production, types of fishes grown and other species that can be cultured in the area including Pangassius and Giant fresh water prawn, through lectures, hands on training and field visit. Rural youths from adjoining districts of western U.P. participated in the training programme. Extension material in Hindi titled ‘'Adhunik Matsya Paalan' was prepared, released and distributed to the trainees.

Training program on Development of Soft Skills for Entrepreneurship among Agri-graduates :

One day Training program on Development of Soft Skills for Entrepreneurship among Agri-graduates was jointly organized by SVPUA&T, Meerut and NAARM, Hyderabad on 31.01.2020. Approximately, 101 B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture students participated. Dr. R. K. Mittal, VC, SVPUAT interacted with the students and apprised them about the personality development.

Other Activities

• Social Services- adoption of TB patients:

As an initiative and directions from the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Anandi Ben Patel, the Chancellor of SVPUA&T, Meerut directed to adopt ninety three tuberculosis patients to the University. Out of which 45 patients were adopted by faculties of COA to help them in ensuring proper nutrition.

• Conduction of Online examination:

During lock down due to COVID 19 pandemic,  the midterm and first hourly examinations of UG and PG students were conducted online.

Facilities

The Department has well equipped classrooms and Instrument laboratories with wide range of instruments and provides hassle free experience in learning and research. Staff room and a separate storeroom are also available in addition to the facilities furnished. Presently Department of Basic Science is having a total of 06 classrooms. The details are as follows:
1.  U.G. Lecture Rooms : 03 with a seating capacity of 60 students each
2.  P.G. Lecture Room : 01 with a seating capacity of 60 students each
3.  Smart Class Rooms : 02 with a seating capacity of 60 students each (Common to U.G./P.G.)
4.  Tutorial Rooms : 02 with a seating capacity of 30 students each
Functional laboratories: Two laboratories are available within department for smooth conduction of practicals for UG, PG and PhD courses.
