Introduction

The Department of Electrical Engineering at the College of Technology, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology (SVPUAT), Meerut, is dedicated to delivering high-quality technical education and promoting innovation-driven research in the field of electrical engineering. The department strives to produce competent engineers equipped with strong theoretical foundations and practical expertise relevant to current industry standards.

Starting from the upcoming academic session, the department will be offering a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) program in Electrical Engineering. This program is designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge in core areas such as electrical machines, power systems, control systems, electronics, renewable energy, and automation.To support effective learning, the department is equipped with modern facilities.

The department also places a strong emphasis on research, innovation, and extension activities, encouraging students to take up real-world challenges and apply engineering solutions in agriculture and allied sectors. Under the mentorship of experienced and passionate faculty members, students will gain exposure to both academic excellence and industry-oriented skills.

With a vision to nurture future-ready engineers who can contribute to nation-building and sustainable development, the Department of Electrical Engineering at SVPUAT invites young minds to explore, innovate, and lead.

Research and Extension activity

The Department of Electrical Engineering at the College of Technology, SVPUAT, actively engages in research and extension activities that aim to address real-world challenges, particularly in the fields of rural development, sustainable energy, agricultural automation, and industrial efficiency.

🔹Key Research Focus Areas:

  • Smart Irrigation and Agricultural Automation – IoT-enabled systems for precision farming and water resource management.
  • Power System Optimization – Enhancing the reliability and efficiency of power transmission and distribution networks.
  • Electric Drives and Control Systems – Research on energy-efficient motor drives for agricultural and industrial machinery.
  • Embedded Systems and IoT Applications – Development of intelligent control and monitoring systems for smart grid and automation.
  • Renewable Energy Systems – Solar, wind, and hybrid power integration for rural electrification and farm applications.

 

🔹 Extension Activities:

  • Conducting awareness workshops and training programs for farmers and rural youth on solar pump technology, efficient energy use, and electrical safety.
  • Collaborative projects with Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and other agricultural research institutions for field-level demonstration of electrical innovations.
  • Encouraging students to undertake field-based projects and internships aimed at improving rural infrastructure and farm productivity using electrical engineering solutions.
  • Organizing community outreach programs to promote clean energy solutions and maintenance of rural electrification setups.

These activities help bridge the gap between academic research and societal needs, reinforcing the department’s mission to contribute to agricultural development and rural empowerment through electrical engineering innovations.
